To Begin again...

Updated: Mar 14

“It is the best time to show gratitude for the past, accept the present moment with joy, and get ready for the change to begin again.” ― Debasish Mridha, MD.

Well here we are, a new year, a new chance, and a new path. At first I thought I would have something witty to write about. How change is good and this is your chance to be the better version of yourself, blah, blah, blah. But what is honestly wrong with the version of you that you already are? What is so wrong with the person that you have developed in to, that we feel like we need to change every year? Only to be met with the same person we were, because deep down that is who we are.

For many reasons, the beginning of the year has been quite difficult for me, one reason in particular, my oldest baby's birthday. This year is full of changes for me, as he is now an adult. The BIG 1-8. I have been asking myself since about November, "How did this happen? How did we get here and how is he old enough to be doing all he is doing?" Now I know that all mother's think this about their babies, but I am one of those rare mother's. The one who doesn't bubble wrap their child and sanitize everything to make sure no germs get them, heck my kids will proudly tell anyone "We ate dirt, so this doesn't bother me!".

In so many ways, the beginning of a New Year of life and a new year we celebrate, are the same. Out with the old and in with the new; Never once wanting to actually be done with the old. Fearing the change that comes with it, knowing that we have to evolve in order for the change to actually take hold. Like a snake shedding its skin, it is painful for the snake to feel the old tearing away, but once its fully voided the old skin it is able to live again. To hunt for the nourishment that it needs and has been waiting so patiently for. So where is our nourishment coming from, in order for us to shed the old and be comfortable in the new?

We are coming into an era of something that is indescribable. Its going to be a massive shedding of the old way of living, of loving, and of being the same. We are going to be embarking on this journey together and I am so excited about what is to come!!
